Monster Triathlon

The boys completed their 3rd triathlon.

They were excited to participate again.

This is the first year that 

Hurricane and Underfoot competed in the same category.

Hurricane was excited to race against his brother.

Underfoot was excited before his race started.

He made a lot of faces.

He swam quickly.

He and his brother collided in the pool.

He was cautious on his bike.

He didn't want to go too quickly.

By the time he did the run, he was tired.

He crossed the finish line and was happy.

Hurricane was calm before the race.

He was tired because we got up so early.

He swam the 50 meters with no problem.

He did the swim in 2:09 minutes.

Hurricane was to stay with Underfoot for the ride.

He came in riding about 1 1/2 minutes before his brother.

He ran the most of the way.

He was so happy that he beat his brother.

Swim Champions

The boys posed with their head coach.

Amy Thompson has a gentle manner.

She is positive, encouraging, and hopeful.

The team won the league championship.

We even joined the team at Peter Piper Pizza.

The boys were excited to go and were surprised their Mom took them.

Swim Preliminaries

We swam all season.

We debated if we would swim in the Preliminaries.

After the Muppet Meet, 

the boys decided they didn't since the day was so hot.

They decided they wanted to swim.

We thought we would go to pack meeting.

Pack meeting was a swim party.

The boys decided they wanted to participate in the swim meet.

We celebrated by going to the Cheesecake Factory.

They learned that Macaroni and Cheese isn't always good.

They've decided to try other food.

We even took Sweetheart a slice at work.

Away Swim Meet

Underfoot and Hurricane participated in their one away swim meet.

Underfoot had one goal this season to get a blue ribbon.

He won his heat and got his 1st Place ribbon.

Hurricane had one goal.
He wanted to swim in a relay.

One of the team members went home so Hurricane got his wish.

Muppet Meet

The swim league was are in hosts a Muppet swim meet.

All the littles 8 years old and under are invited to participate in it.

 

Both boys signed up.

It was a Saturday event from 6:00 am to an unknown time.

This meet ended before 1:00 pm.

The heat winners are awarded a ring pop.

This is his first heat win this season.

He was enjoying himself so much

I think he smiled for the camera when he swam.

They swam backstroke and freestyle.

Underfoot didn't have a recorded breast stroke time yet.

He was a little bummed he didn't race that stroke.

A Mom on the team bought chupas for the each person who swam.

He decided to wait until he finished swimming to eat his.

This is where he stored it so no one would eat it or lose it.

First Swim Meet

Our first swim meet of the season was awesome! 

We went and set up the tent.

We invited others to sit with us,

ate supper,

and wrote their events on their arms.

 

The boys thought that swimming without their goggles would be awesome!

They have practiced without goggles.

After the meet, the tent came down, 

and Eegee's were bought.

Boys' Triathlon

The boys got the chance to participate in another triathlon.

Their first one was last year.

Underfoot is pumped!

He finished the swim!

 He rode his bike on a busy road and didn't crash!

I was biting my nails the whole time until he got back.

He has to do 2 laps. 

This was a pass of him on the first lap.

Hurricane was super excited as well!

 A parent was required to go down the swim lane.

Hurricane didn't need the help and swam on his back!

 He rode his bike super fast!

 His triumphant finishing was all smiles!

They both got a ribbon, chocolate milk, gogurt, and a monster t-shirt.

We think they are AWESOME for trying!

Swim Support

Hurricane likes swim meets.

He has a great support staff.

 

Hurricane has some great coaches.

They encourage him before he races.

They even put on his goggles before he races.

1st Swim Meet

The boys had their first swim meet of their lives. 

They swim in different divisions.

I was more nervous than they were.

They weren't fast.

Hurricane even had the timer stopped on him

because they official time keepers didn't still see him in the pool.

Underfoot swam his best and did a great job!

He likes to swim free style better than anything else.

They felt AWESOME about their races.

So did I.

Hot Chocolate Run

Hurricane and Mr. K-man

Mr K-man heard his Mom talking about a Hot Chocolate Run in a city 2 hours away.

He asked her if he could do it.

She looked into the race and saw there was a time limit and thought,

"A 5K with a 4-5 year old boy with a time limit....FUN."

(please note there is a little sacracsim.)

On New Year's morning, Mr. K-man's Mom hosted a Hot Chocolate Run. 

She put together a 5 year old length course for January 1;

our boys ran it for the hot chocolate along and the girls joined us.

What an awesome Mom to make a special event for her son!

We were so happy to participate.

Tri Again...

One year ago, I decided I need to stop pining away for a baby.

After multiple miscarriages, I was starting to go crazy.

One year ago

I found something hard to do.

Physically hard.

If my body wouldn't let me carry a baby,

I might as well work the muscles in a different way.

Eventually it helped my emotional heart as well.

I invited women around me to join me in a triathlon.

Many women came out of the wood work to participate in the race or support.

ONE YEAR LATER,

I wanted to see if I was any better than the year before.

I'd fallen off my bike more than I care to remember.

My ankle and knee still smarting I did the next race.

The morning was cold.

Too cold to stand around in a swimsuit.

 

My leg cramped in the middle of the swim, but I persevered. 

I swam a little slower than planned but faster than last year.

 Swimming is my favorite part usually of the whole event.

 

I asked Sweetheart to take pictures.

He followed me through transitions to take my picture. 

My boys ran the last bit of the race with me.

Hurricane insisted on "helping" me by holding my hand.

When he would trip, I would just haul him up and keep going.

They were super excited to cross the finish line.

So much so they thought they should get a medal.

They each went to the award's table and took the 1st place medal.

Hurricane went to the car with his medal without telling anyone where he went.

I wish I could stay his disappearing act is unusual but it isn't.

They both cried when they had to give the medals back.

I was a little faster.
So there was some improvement.
