Cabin Family Pictures

We put the camera on the hood of the car.
Hit the auto-button.
We had our own family photo session.

None are edited.
I love these mountains and being at the cabin.

S'mores

S'mores are great!
We soaked in the hot tub and instead of hot chocolate,
marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers were on the menu.

Little People Village

The cabin has lots of fun toys.
The boys can use their imagination and create.
The toys are old and fun.
The cabin is a great way to unplug from the internet and phone.
We love the peace of the place.

Rock

Just before we get to the cabin,
the flat rock is there.

Next to the rock is a creek and shows if there will be water at the cabin.
Growing up this would be as far as we would walk when we would go for a "hike."
It was along the dirt road.

Now it's time for the next generation to stand on the rock
and get read to go to the cabin.

Hike at Cabin

One day while at the cabin, we went on a hike.
The girls were preparing to go on a hike with their Dad.
We got invited to go with them on their training hike.

Cabin Picture Wall

My Grandma marked each of the Cousins Camp
with a photo montage in her office.
The office was below the apartment and next to the store.
The pictures were moved to the cabin.
I took some pictures of the pictures.

Me

One year we went to Coeur d'Alene

I crashed on my bike!
My face, wrist, and hip were scratched.
My helmet was broken in half.
I crashed hard core.

Cabin Time

After my parents left, we had some time to play.
Growing up, my Grandparents would host
a Cousins Camp at their cabin.

So in that tradition, we came to the cabin
with our cousins.

The cabin has an upstairs and downstairs.
Renovations have been going on for the past few years.

Hurricane wanted to learn how to build a fire.
Mama J taught him the rules.
He is NEVER to build a fire or touch matches solo.

He stayed with her every step of the way.
He watched to make sure the fire stayed going.

For a time the cabin held all the "things we might need some day."
Part of the renovation was to remove what was not even useful.
The couch has a bed in it. It is useful.
The girl is amazing!

The outhouse is a 2 seater.
I don't know if it has been used recently.
Using the indoor facilities is new in the last few years like 5 years.

When I woke in the morning, two deer were outside.
The place is calm.
No phones. No internet. No electricity.

Think Snow......

Yesterday was a 104 degrees. This picture of my Gramps (my great-grandpa) and Poppa (paternal grandfather) reminds me it can be cool. Where I grew up there is a season with snow. I miss seeing and being around the snow.

Since my Poppa checked out in February, I've thought about him quite a bit. He grew up during the 1930's Depression and always found a way to have money in his pocket. He worked hard and expected his children and grandchild to work hard. During the meal after the funeral services, my cousin, Robert, said, "That Grandpa expected me to keep up with him on our hikes. He would always tell my parents that I kept up." Grandpa expect all of us to be the best we could be. He prayed for us each day - every meal even in public.

Today is his birthday. He would have turned 87 years old. Here he is with his Sweetheart as a young man. I am her namesake.
