Farewell Quilt

Our friends, the Dean family, picked up and moved East! I thought the adage was "Go West!" When a woman (and her family) would move West, her friends and family would gather round her and make a quilt. This quilt was to comfort her as she created a new life and to give her courage for the next step. In the spirit of that "Go West!" sentiment, we made a quilt by making a quilt square from them to remember some of their friends. I sewed the top together and then to had an old fashioned quilting bee.

At a farewell party, the empty squares were signed by people at the party. The Dean family will be missed.
