Think Snow......

Yesterday was a 104 degrees. This picture of my Gramps (my great-grandpa) and Poppa (paternal grandfather) reminds me it can be cool. Where I grew up there is a season with snow. I miss seeing and being around the snow.

Since my Poppa checked out in February, I've thought about him quite a bit. He grew up during the 1930's Depression and always found a way to have money in his pocket. He worked hard and expected his children and grandchild to work hard. During the meal after the funeral services, my cousin, Robert, said, "That Grandpa expected me to keep up with him on our hikes. He would always tell my parents that I kept up." Grandpa expect all of us to be the best we could be. He prayed for us each day - every meal even in public.

Today is his birthday. He would have turned 87 years old. Here he is with his Sweetheart as a young man. I am her namesake.
