Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

When Sweetheart wants to make cookies, this is what he makes. He found the recipe before we married. He will make it with our boys on Sundays for a family activity. There is a picture tutorial.

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
Source: Internet before we married

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup shortening
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (if desired)
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups uncooked rolled oats

Cream shortening and sugars; beat in eggs and vanilla until light and fluff y.

Sift dry ingredients minus the oats, nuts, and chocolate.

Add sifted ingredients to creamed mixture.

Add oats, chocolate, and nuts.

Drop chocolate chip cookie batter by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. We ball all the cookie dough and freeze it on a cookie sheet. We then have pre-made raw cookie balls at a moments notice for fresh cookies.

Bake chocolate chip  cookies at 350 F - about 12 to 15 minutes, depending on oven and baking sheet/stone.

We tried an experiment to cook on the BBQ grill. It didn't work too well. But we tried something new to not heat up the house.

Makes about 8 dozen chocolate chip cookies.

Here is the recipe without the tutorial.

That's the kind of batter I like to eat raw.
