Applesauce Pecan Bread (Mrs. Roy L. Armitage)

Ingredients
2 cups flour, sifted
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
1 egg, well beaten
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup salad oil

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and stir in pecans. Combine well-beaten egg, applesauce and salad oil. Add dry ingredients to egg-applesauce mixture. Stir only until blended. Pour in to 5 x 9-inch greased and lightly floured loaf tin. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes

Let stand overnight before cutting. If you have a sweet tooth you can frost with a light frosting made with 1 cup confections' sugar, 2 tablespoons milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla Beat to spreading consistency.
