Grandma's Scones (Mrs. Jake Garn)

1 package dry yeast
4 cups warm milk
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. oil
6 cups flour
butter, honey, or jam

Dissolve yeast in milk. Beat in sugar, salt, oil and flour. Knead and let rise about 1 1/2 hours or until double in bulk. Punch down on floured board and cut into rectangles about 5 x 2 inches. Fry in deep fat until golden brown. Serve with butter, honey, and/or jam. Makes about 3 dozen.
