Pony Express

The Pony Express museum was very interactive.
The boys learned about the Pony Express before we left.

We learned that the Pony Express was only in active 18 months.
The first letter took 11 days to travel.

The riders were asked to be 18 years old or younger.
They also advertised for orphans to be riders.
Relay stations were placed 5-25 miles apart with 157 stations.

Riders were given 2 minutes to change horses
when they got to different stations.

The displays were children friendly which was wonderful.
They touched everything, climbed on saddles, and pumped water.

Underfoot taught school to the other children.
He had them write letters and do math problems.

We were so lucky to have Uncle Shaun with us for the fun!
